The Jewish groups ask President Rodrigo Duterte to ask for an apology after likening himself to Hitler who killed Jews during his time.
Some Jewish groups react after President Rodridgo Duterte seemed to be likening himself to Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, saying he could do just the same.
Upon his arrival at Davao International Airport on early Thursday morning, President Duterte told the reporters: “If Germany had Hitler, the Philippines would have…”, pausing and pointing to himself.
“You know my victims. I would like (them) to be all criminals to finish the problem of my country and save the next generation from perdition”.
Duterte also bragged that he could kill three million drug addicts in the Philippines, just as Hitler has annihilated three million Jews during his time.
“There are three million drug addicts (in the Philippines). I’d be happy to slaughter them”, Duterte said.
“You know my victims. I would like (them) to be all criminals to finish the problem of my country and save the next generation from perdition”, he added.
The Philippines’ chief executive’s comments triggered shock and anger among Jewish groups based in the United States.
