Duterte Called On The Marines To Protect Public

Duterte Called on the Marines – President Rodrigo Duterte recently called on the Marines to protect the whole country, by shifting their actions like policemen over the war on drugs and terrorism.

In a report by PhilStar, Duterte said that the Marines, like any policemen, won’t be put to jail for doing their jobs but, he said that he is not encouraging them to take the law into their hands.

“Please understand that this republic will rise. This republic will continue to be great,” Duterte said as quoted in the report.

During a visit to the Marines headquarters at Riduardo Brown in Taguig City, he reiterated his promise to provide the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) its needs to win the war.

The report said that the President even had two Gloc30 caliber .45 pistols. Duterte has also promised to provide all soldiers with a h@ndgun by 2017.

Duterte also remained unaffected by threats of a military coup d’etat in the middle of his administration’s strong campaign against illegal drugs.

“And I told the military if you do not take it, do not like me. Do not say (you will launch) the coup d’etat, call me and I will be the one to swear you in. You can lead the government. Do it (junta) if you like,” said Duterte.

Also, he is pledged by his mandate to protect the Filipino people and the coming generation, according to Duterte himself.

“Because I have to protect… If I do not interdict now, I would have compromised the next generation, your children, even your grandchildren. And it’s going to be a narco-politics,” he said.

Duterte has visited several military and police camps since his taking of office and has been telling the armed forces to be not afraid of doing their duty for he will “take full responsibility, legal or otherwise”.

He also said that the only reason why he ran for the presidency because of his “love of the country” and to prevent it from being a “narco-state”.

The Duterte administration started a fierce war against drugs in the country resulting in thousands of surrenders and lives being taking because of alleged fighting back during raids.
