Amidst the campaign of the Duterte administration against the use of prohibited substances, two agencies of the government push to subject court officials, teachers and students to drug test.
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II ordered on Monday a random drug test for prosecutors and all officials and employees under the watch of the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Sec. Aguirre said that all resolutions from the DOJ should have credibility and the preservation od integrity of every member of the agency is with utmost importance.
“For justice to work, we have to work. For the people to believe, we have to see to it that they can believe in our prosecutors”, the DOJ secretary said in his speech during the 119th anniversary of the department on Monday, September 26.
“Trust is always earned, it is never demanded”, he added.
“We cannot prosecute if we ourselves are tainted by the very drugs we seek to eradicate”, he further added.
