Bacolod City’s Masskara Festival is expected to have its most colorful opening salvo as the tagged “colorful guy” will officially open the 23-day long celebration.
BACOLOD CITY – Masskara Festival 2016 will be officially opened by none other than the 16th President of the Philippines, Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
The opening salvo, which is set on the afternoon of October one, will be a star-studded one, says Bacolod City Mayor Evelio “Bing” Leonardia.
This year’s Masskara Festival’s theme says, “Bacolod Back On Track”, signifying the achievement of the long-awaited political unity in the highly-urbanized city.
According to the local chief executive of the dubbed as “City of Smiles” said that Duterte’s attendance on this year’s Masskara Festival was confirmed by Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Deputy Commissioner Jesus Clint Aranas, who visited the city on Monday, September 26.
The president is expected to arrive on October 1st at 4 p.m. His plane is said to be directly proceeding to the Bacolod-Silay Airport in Silay City in northern Negros Occidental after his visit in Vietnam.
Aside from Duterte, officials of his party, PDP-Laban, are also coming including Senate President Koko Pimentel who leads the party, House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, and other Cabinet members.
