Comelec Continues To Prepare For Barangay Election Despite Postponement

The Comelec remains neutral on the proposal to postpone the SK and Barangay Elections which is supposed to be held on October 31.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) pushes through their preparation for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) and Barangay Elections coming October 31.

Comelec Chairman Andres Bautista said the Congress has not enacted any measure postponing the election and as long as they do not receive any measure or decision, they shall pursue with their preparations.

In this connection the poll body chief said he is hoping that the Congress could already decide on the postponement before September 1.

This is to make sure that it will not spoil whatever preparations the Comelec is undertaking right now.

Shall the Congress decide to postpone the barangay polls, Chairman Bautista hopes that it would only last until next year.

Bautista explained that this is to avoid the the overlapping of preparations for the Barangay and SK polls with the 2019 midterm elections.

He emphasized that the Comelec remains neutral on the proposed postponement of the elections which is supposed to be held on October 31 this year.

Earlier this month, Bautista led the official kick off of the printing of ballots for the barangay elections.

He inspected the printers at the National Printing Office (NPO) that will be used to produce approximately 85 million ballots.

THE NPO will begin the printing of ballots for the SK on September.
