Duterte: G-Shock Wrist Watches For Soldiers Fighting Abu Sayyaf

President Rodrigo Duterte ate dinner and durian fruits and finished the night by giving Casio G-Shock wrist watches to 1,000 members of the 69th Infantry Battalion.

G-Shock Wrist Watches were offered to one thousand soldiers of the 69th Infantry Battalion who went to Basilan and Sulu to participate in the ongoing military offensive against the Abu Sayyaf.

The offer came from no other than the commander-in-chief himself, President Rodrigo Duterte, to show appreciation for the courage of the soldiers to free Mindanao from the bandits, Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG).

Duterte had a dinner with the men and women of the 69th Army battalion of the 10th Infantry Division and the 2nd Scout Ranger Battalion, both based in Compostela Valley who all left Davao City on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.

Office of the Special Assistant to the President (OSAP) Sec. Christopher “Bong” Go said, “Each one was given (a) G-Shock casio wrist watch as a sign of support from the President “.

“Lahat sila binigyan (all were given one each)” Go added after handing the wrist watches just before the soldiers were done with their dinner.

While eating Durian with the soldiers, Duterte reminded the soldiers, “We need to protect the Republic. Go after them, mag ingat din kayo!”

“Yes, Sir!”, the soldiers’ prompt reply.

The Army’s Major General, Rafael Valencia, sent off the the 69th Infantry Battalion’s “Cougar” troopers to always abide by the rules of war and be safe.

President Rodrigo Duterte renewed his directive to the troops to “destroy” the Abu Sayyaf during his press conference early Thursday, August 25, in Davao City.

This was after a teenager’s head was severed after being held captives by the bandits in Sulu for failing to pay the P1 million ransom.

In several press conferences, the president had repeatedly told the soldiers of whatever unit he spoke to, that they have his full support and, in return, asked for their cooperation especially in the war against illegal drugs and insurgency.

I’m fighting a war here. Drugs in Manila and other places, terrorism here in Mindanao. It will need your sacrifice and mine too. You’ll have to come in very fast. We are stretched thin. I don’t have policemen in every nook and corner while shabu is rampaging“.
