Pyongyang’s Ballistic Missile Programs Banned By UN Security Council

North Korea is banned by the UN from any use of ballistic or nuclear technology.

The United Nations Security Council issued a resolution appealing to North Korea to suspend their ballistic missile program activities, including use of any of ballistic or nuclear technology.

The council issued the resolution following the US military condemnation of Pyongyang’s latest launching of submarine-based ballistic missile.

In a statement by US Strategic Command, it was believed that a KN-11 missile was launched to the coastal waters of Sinpo, South Hamgyong Province of North Korea.

The statement emphasized though that the missile did not cause any threat to the North America, based on the findings of North American Aerospace Defense Command.

Wednesday’s early morning launch appears to have been its most successful test yet of a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM).

SLBMs are of particular concern because of the mobility of submarines and the ease with which launch preparation can remain undetected.
