The two cubs were named after the newly elected vice president of the Philippines, Leni Robredo, wife of former DILG Sec. Jesse Robredo, and president of the Philippines, Rodrigo ‘Digong’ Duterte, former mayor of Davao City who had served the crime-free city for 20 years.

According to the owner of the zoo, they did it for the purpose and the desire that the economy would be a tiger’s economy. The two cubs were children of Tigers Ninoy and Cory, Bengal tigers who were named after the parents of the former president, Pres. Benigno ‘Noynoy’ Aquino III.

It is evident in the video posted that the two-month old cubs indeed have great appetites. In fact, everyday each of their tummies require a small can of infant’s milk and a half kilo of meat.

In the present, 12 Bengal tigers were housed in the Malabon Zoo. Eight of the 12 came from captivity. There are also other wild animals in the zoo which makes it another tourist destination in the Philippines.

Aside from the those wild creatures that were named after the prominent personalities in the Philippines, another creature that makes this zoo unique is a black bear which could rarely be seen in other zoos.
