The company said in the report by The Manila Times that it is “fully aware” that the Vietnam’s MOH decided to hold three batches of the products produced by the URC facility in Hanoi.

A translated report from a video posted on the Facebook page of Asia-journal names the held products.

Since May 20, the Ministry of Health has decided to spend the circulation of three lots of Hanoi URC Limited Company’s food products for exceeding the published standard levels of lead content: The first is lot of C2 lemon green tea (Production date: February 04, 2016 – Expiration date: February 04, 2016).  The second lot is Red Dragon strawberry energy drink (Production date: February 19, 2016 – Expiration date: February 19, 2017). The last banned lot is Red Dragon strawberry energy drink (Production date: November 1o, 2015 – Expiration date: August 10, 2016).

In fact, there is always a certain amount of lead in the raw materials used to produce the beverages particularly citric acid, one type of additive which creates the acidity. When the lead enters the body through drinking, eating, and breathing ways, it will make the excretion process slower, which leads to kidney failure, peripheral nerve damage, and decreased brain function.

Especially, because children have the ability to absorb more lead than adults from four to five times so the possibility of lead p0isoning is higher in children.

But in a recent lab test of the said products by URC Hanoi, it has been found out that there is no excessive lead content. In a report by the Vietnam Food Administration (VFA) which is under the Ministry of Health said that the results from the ten samples are within limits.
