President Rodrigo Duterte returns to Davao City.

President Rodrigo Duterte has returned to his hometown in Davao City as the country’s highest official on Friday night July 1.This was two days after he sworn into office.

According to GMA News, a private jet carrying Duterte landed at the Davao old airport at around 8:00 pm. He was with his partner Honeylet Avanceña and their 12-year-old daughter Kitty Duterte.

Contrary to the previous reports, the arrival of President Duterte has not affected the flights in the airport.

In a previous interview, President Duterte said that he preferred to return to Davao City even after he assume the Office of the President. He also said that he doesn’t want to live in Malacañang Palace.

According to the reports, President Duterte is living in the Malacañang of the South, also dubbed as “Panacañang,” where he accepted guests and held his meetings in Davao.

President Duterte had a packed day on his first day as the Chief Executive. On Friday, he attended the oath-taking of Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa and Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Ricardo Visaya.

On Thursday, President Duterte held his first cabinet meeting, hosted a diplomatic reception, and attended a solidarity dinner with the residents of Tondo, Manila after the inauguration.

According to Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, President Duterte will be back on Monday in Manila.
