Miss Imelda Schweighart wins the Miss Philippines-Earth 2016 crown during the coronation night of one of the country’s most prestigious beauty pageant in the Philippines. The 21-year-old German-Filipino student based in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan bagged the MPE title in the coronation night held at the UP Theather in Quezon City on Saturday night.

The veteran beauty pageant contestant Imelda Schweighart bested 45 other Miss Philippines Earth beauties from all over the country as well as overseas Filipino communities from different parts of the world. The victory of the Filipina-German beauty made headlines on social media after the announcement was revealed during the coronation night.
The newly-crowned Miss Philippines-Earth title-holder will try to secure a “three-peat” for the Philippines, one of country that dominated the global Miss Earth pageant which will be held later this year.
Aside from Imelda Schweighart, the other members of the MPE-2016 court includes Kiara Giel Gregorio from the Filipino community in London placed who second and was proclaimed Miss Philippines-Air. She was also named Miss Hana Shampoo and Miss Oasis Dental.
Loren Artejos from Laoag was crowned Miss Philippines-Water while Shannon Rebecca Bridgman from Rosales, Pangasinan, was hailed as Miss Philippines-Fire. Melanie Mader from the Filipino community in Vienna was proclaimed Miss Philippines-Ecotourism.
The 2016 winner of Miss Philippines Earth Imelda Schweighart is a veteran of beauty contests. She joined the Binibinibing Pilipinas in 2013, the same year 2015 Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach joined the said national tilt. She is the reigning Miss Puerto Princesa and placed second in the Miss Palawan pageant.
