Duterte Urged To Remove Work Age Limit Requirements

Elected President Rodrigo Duterte is urging for the removal of age limit requirements to all job seekers. One of Elect-President Rodrigo Duterte‘s adviser Senator Pia Cayetano, said that she had filed a Senate Bill No. 29 also known as the Anti-Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 2013 to end to what she considered an emerging type of discrimination in the labor front.

For now, the bill is still pending and they are hoping for the immediate push, especially that Duterte strongly supports this bill.

The bill is prohibiting and penalizing employers who will ignore or decline any applicants because the applicant’s age does not fit the requirement.

According to some Overseas Filipino Workers who decided to go back to the country to look for some jobs here in the Philippines, they have experienced this age discrimination practice by some local employers.

This is because despite the fact that they have already gained long years of experience in working overseas. Many Filipinos believe that the Age Limit Requirements is one of the reasons why there is a high rate of unemployment in the country.

“Because of our age, we cannot get a job in the Philippines so our only solution to get a job is to work overseas where there is no age discrimination”

Everyone is hoping that the Age Discrimination is going to be implemented under the ruling of Duterte.
