Martin Andanar Reveals Plans on How to Handle the Media for Duterte

Veteran journalist Martin Andanar who will serve as the incoming Communications Secretary revealed some of his plans on how to handle the Philippine media under the administration of President Rody Duterte. According to Andanar under Pres. Duterte the administration will print its own tabloid and create its own website.

Aside from the tabloid and the official website of Pres. Rody Duterte, the Communications secretary also revealed that a weekly radio and television talk show with Pres. Duterte is being considered by Sec. Andanar. The weekly TV and Radio show of Pres. Duterte will feature a discussion of issues directly with the people like he had been doing as mayor of Davao City.

The incoming Communications Secretary Martin Andanar visited Malacañang and government media agencies upon the invitation of Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr.. During the press brieing, the TV5 journalist was asked on how he would smoothen the tension between the President and the media.

He said he would discuss the matter with the two Cabinet members, including Press Secretary Salvador Panelo, who will make up the Communications Group. The other member will be announced soon, he said.

Martin Andanar also stated that there will be a revamp in the government media agencies although noted that good performers under the Aquino administration will be retained once Mayor Duterte will start his mandate as the President of the Republic.

The Communications Secretary of Pres. Duterte also said that aside from improving government radio and television, they intend to build an online presence and platforms, print their own tabloid to inform the people about government services, policies and achievements.
