Honeylet shares love story with Duterte

Cielito “Honeylet” Avanceña, the common law partner of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte on Friday shared her lover story with the incoming president.

In an exclusive interview of ABS-CBN News‘ Mario Dumaual, Honeylet said that it was  “destiny” that she and the outgoing Davao City mayor have been together anew. She has been working in US for years already when she decided to return to the country and later rekindled her romance with the upcoming president.

Dubbed as Duterte’s secret weapon, Honeylet told Dumaual that she prefers to be called as “Tagapag-alaga ng Presidente” instead of being called as First Lady.

“Gusto ko nasa sideline ako pero gusto advocacy sa health dahil nurse ako. Dating OFW ako. Businesswoman din ako ng small, medium enterprises…Ang gusto ko mag-volunteer lang. Mas ano sa akin yung walang bayad. Ayokong ma-involve sa government. It’s not my cup of tea,” she added.

Honeylet, who has an 12-year-old daughter with Duterte named Veronica “Kitty” Duterte consider staying in Davao instead of Manila noting that her daughter has to study.

During the interview, she revealed that her daughter went emotional when she told her that her father was running for the  position of President.

Honeylet, who’s set to appear at the thanksgiving party of Duterte on June 4, 2016 along with her daughter Kitty said that she is still hoping to finally tie the knot with the incoming president.

Duterte’s nuptial with his ex-wife Elizabeth Zimmerman was declared null and void in 2000. They have three children including Sara Duterte.

  1. I understand that there are so many needs in public hospitals in the Philippines; has she ever made an attempt to volunteer as a nurse? Work as a nurse for free.
