Administration To Double The Pay of Police and Military

The new administration eyes pay hike of Police and Military personnel.

Administration

Administration has expressed its plan to double the pay of police and military personnel. Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano said that the Chief PNP’s salary may be higher than the president’s pay looking into the possibility of salary hike. Though he said it is possible yet it will not happen.

He added that if these plans will not be implemented right away, then the administration will secure and improve the government workers benefits.  Cayetano said that the new DOH secretary and new PhilHealth president will be consulted on the help that they may provide. The administration goal is to see possible zero billing that will be issued for government workers as a remedy, if the plan on the pay hike will not be implemented right away.

Cayetano said that Duterte has given him the task to study the funding source of the additional pay eyed by the new administration. He said that the possible source may come from 2017 national budget on the “free portion”. He added that there has unspecified item with about P600 billion in amount in the said proposed 2017 budget that will be a good venue to indicate the budget for the proposal.

The senator added that it is more complicated on the side of the military since the retirement pay which is costly to increase and provided that the organization is huge to be covered by the fund in alignment to the increase.

On the other hand, it will be a great help for the law enforcement sectors, who put their lives at stake for the sake of the country.
