Mayor Duterte Explains the Whereabouts of “Best & Brightest” Cabinet Members

The presumptive president of the Philippines, Mayor Duterte explains the whereabouts of his supposed “best and brightest” Cabinet members whom he promised will composed his upcoming Cabinet. The Davao City Mayor revealed that they might have been turned off by the low salary in the government.

According to Mayor Duterte during a late-night press conference, he approached the best and brightest first as his Cabinet nominees. He was quoted saying “Ayaw nga (nila) kasi wala ngang sweldo. Ang tinatanong sa akin, Mayor magkano (ang sweldo)? Can you bring parity on the salaries between private and public companies?” said Duterte.

Mayor Rody Duterte who will assumed his office as the Chief Executive of the Philippines this coming June 30 that he is still thinking about the possibility of having women Cabinet members under his term as President.

He was noncommittal in appointing women members in his official family. “Baka merong babae. Baka wala. (There may be a woman. There might not be one.) I am still trying to figure out kung sinu-sino,” he said.

Pres. Duterte also revealed that he is having difficulty in choosing people for Cabinet posts, saying that every decision that he made so far was his own. Meanwhile, Duterte’s transition team announced earlier that they will follow the example of Canadia’s Cabinet members under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau but so far Mayor Duterte’s Cabinet members are composed of closed friends and veteran government officials.

The youngest Cabinet members of Mayor Rody Duterte so far are Public Works Secretary Mark Villar and Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Michael Dino, one of the founder of the volunteer group, Bisaya Na Pud.
