Inquirer Purisima was arrested upon arriving from Butuan City. Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) director Victor Deona said that he will be immediately transferred to Sandiganbayan from NAIA.

“CIDG personnel carried out arrest, he will be brought to Sandiganbayan from airport,” he said.

The arrest came two days after the Sandiganbayan issued an arrest warrant against him and ten other individuals on their alleged involvement in anomalous contract for delivery service of firearms licenses.

According to the case’s information from GMA News, the contract was awarded to Werfast Documentation Agency Inc. in 2011 without public bidding. The private firm also lacked the apparent qualifications and track record as a reliable service company.

The services of Werfast were allegedly overpriced also. The Obudsman said that firm failed to get a permission from Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) to operate.

Aside from that, the Werfast is not also accredited by  Department of Science and Technology and has failed to register with Securities and Exchange Commission to offer the service.

Among of the 10 individuals who were ordered arrest are policeman, while the other five are private personalities. They were charged for violation of  Republic Act No. 3019 or the Anti-graft and corrupt practices act.

A total of 16 individuals were named as Purisima’s co-accused, but the 6 of them have already posted bail.

  1. police officerest should be exempted from arrest . the sandiganbayan may issue an invitation only not an arrest order . if after 10 days they dont accept the invitation then a waarant may issue for their arrest . tanga kasi itong ating mga congressman hindi marunong magisipmag pasa ng tunay na batas …
