Anderson Cooper denies calling Mar Roxas and his wife a corrupt couple.

Renowned CNN News Anchor Anderson Cooper has denied calling the presidential candidate Mar Roxas and veteran journalist Korina Sanchez a “corrupt couple.”

In the viral photo, Anderson Cooper allegedly said: “When I heard that this corrupt couple are running for office…May God help the Philippines.”

The photo which has since making rounds online and has received mixed reactions from the netizens. Some described the image as hoax

On Twitter, a certain “PHU” account asked Cooper to confirm if it was true. He simply answered: “I never said this.” In response to the same question, the broadcaster said that it was fake.

In 2013, Korina Sanchez criticized Cooper for reporting the shortcomings of government aftermath the Super Typhoon Yolanda.

Cooper was one of the foreign anchors who went to Tacloban to cover the situation. Sanchez’s husband Mar Roxas was also in the area to head the rehabilitation and relief efforts of government.

Sanchez reacted to Cooper’s report and said that he doesn’t know what he is saying. Cooper also denied saying that there was no government official in Tacloban.

“Miss Sanchez seems to be under the mistaken impression that I said I saw no presence of Philippine government on the ground in Tacloban. I never said that,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mar Roxas is now the second leading presidential candidate. The latest Pulse Asia survey commissioned by ABS-CBN showed the former Interior Secretary statistically tied with Grace Poe in the second place. Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is still the frontrunner.
