Roxas to Duterte: ‘He Violates the Law by Accepting Gifts From Quiboloy’
DILG Secretary and presidential candidate Mar Roxas recently said that Davao City Mayor Rody Duterte disobeyed the law by accepting the “gifts” of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy that includes pieces of property and vehicles.
In a report by GMA News, Roxas said that it is clear in law that public servants must not receive any gifts from anybody.
He also pointed out that why these “gifts” to the Mayor were not included in the statement of assets, liabilities, and net worth if he’s really not hiding something.
Roxas added that the Duterte is violating the law even he’s a lawyer.
“Lalapastanganin mo ang batas, papatay ka ng tao, itatago mo ang kayamanan mo, magsisinungaling ka dahil hindi kumbinyente sa ‘yo. ‘Yan ang pagkatao mo at ‘yan ang nakikita ng mga kababayan natin.”
[You will disrespect the law, eliminate people, hide your wealth, and lie because the law is not convenient for you. This is who you are and that’s what our countrymen sees.”
According to the report, Duterte was given a property in the Woodridge Subdivision in Ma-a, Davao City by Quiboloy. He also bought Duterte a property in the Royal Pines Subdivision in Matina, Davao City.
In the SALN of Duterte in 2014, it is said that Duterte wrote that two properties were acquired in Ma-a in 1997 and 1999. The other three in Matina were purchased in 1998, 2005, and 2007.
In previous reports, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV accused the mayor of having P2.4 billion in transactions from his bank accounts from the period of 2006 to 2015.
