Chief Supt. Ronaldo dela Rosa Relieved from His Post

One of the country’s most decorated police officer, former Davao City Chief Supt. Ronaldo dela Rosa, the brigade commander of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF) was relieved from his post after his controversial Facebook post allegedly showing “possibility of being partisan.”

Although the former Davao City chief was relieved as head of PNP-RSSF composed of 8 battalions close to 5,000 personnel based in Camp Crame, the police officer noted that he remains the executive officer of the Directorate for Human Resources and Doctrine Development (DHRRD) of the Philippine National Police.

The controversial Facebook post of Chief Supt. Ronaldo dela Rosa was posted on Monday at 3:31 p.m., it gained thousands of likes and shares.

In his post, he said, “I am the Brigade Commander of the PNP-RSSF composed of 8 battalions close to 5,000 personnel based in Camp Crame. Kayong mga mangdadaya at mangliligalig ngayong May 9 elections, humanda na kayo! WE WILL CRUSH YOU!!! Kung sa binisaya pa LIGSAN TA MO!!!” He also tagged Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s executive assistant Christopher “Bong” Go and 12 others in the post.

Police Chief Superintendent Francis Elmo Sarona replaced the former Davao City chief Ronaldo Dela Rosa as chief of PNP-RSSF on Tuesday. Although the announcement of relieving Dela Rosa from his post, PNP Police Deputy Director Gen. Danilo Constantino explained in a report that the post on Dela Rosa’s Facebook account was not the sole reason for his relief.

PNP would also conduct an investigation on Dela Rosa for possible administrative liabilities because of his social media post.

The former Davao chief of police confessed earlier that he greeted the leading presidential candidate, Mayor Rody Duterte during his birthday. He also noted that the mayor has been the greatest influence in his career as a police officer.

Due to the relief of the Davao City Police chief, supporters of Mayor Duterte took to Facebook to air their concerns about the latest development among the members of their group who openly support the mayor’s presidential bid on their Facebook account.
