Pinoy Student Wins NASA Design Contest

Jose Mari Tuason Together With His Teammates Won NASA Contest

A Filipino student in the U.S. named Jose Mari Tuason together with his team mate, recently won the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) engineering design contest.

The name of the Filipino student currently makes noise in different news authorities as well as in social media.

Jose Mari Tuason, who studies at the University of Illinois, joined and won the first Breakthrough, Innovative and Game-changing (BIG) Idea Challenge by NASA with his teammates.

What is BIG?

NASA says that the BIG Idea Challenge “is an engineering design competition sponsored by NASA’s Space Technology Mission Directorate’s Game Changing Development (GCD) Program and managed by the National Institute of Aerospace.”

According to GMA News, Tuason’ team defended their idea in a design review at the Langley Research Center at NASA.

Even the acting Director of Game Changing Development (GCD) Program Mary Wusk said that what Tuason and his teammates had done could be “markers of successes” in the future space exploration.

Mary Wusk said as quoted in the article:

“We recognize the value in engaging top talent from America’s brightest collegiate students and faculty, and are making university collaboration a priority to remain at the forefront of these revolutions.”

Jose Mari Tuason recently expressed his joy with the win.
