Joma Sison to Attend Mayor Duterte’s Inauguration as President

Joma Sison or Jose Maria Sison in real life, the leader and founder of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) promised to attend the inauguration of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte once elected as President of the Republic of the Philippines. The communist leader also sees the possibility of a cease between communist rebels and the government if Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte wins the presidency.

The announcement of the communist leader comes after the New People’s Army (NPA) handed over five policemen to Mayor Duterte on Tuesday nine days after the cops were abducted. The political figure in the country, Joma Sison has been in exile in The Netherlands since the year 1987.

The political leader who was previously pardoned by the Cory Aquino administration also revealed to the media that returning home is also an option under a Duterte administration.

Joma Sison is also the chief political consultant of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines, he noted that he talked to Duterte on Tuesday to thank him for helping in the negotiations for the release of the cops and to discuss plans for peace talks.

In an interview with ABS-CBN the communist leader was quoted as saying “We talked about the need to resume the peace negotiations and release the political prisoners unjustly imprisoned by the Arroyo and Aquino charged in violation of the Hernandez political offense doctrine and the Joint Agreement on Safety and Immunity Guarantees,” Sison told ABS-CBN News in an online interview.

Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is one of the student of Joma Sison during the time when Sison was teaching the subject “Political Thought” at the Lyceum of the Philippines,” Sison added, recalling his ties with Duterte before martial law was declared in 1972. The Davao City mayor also promised to the camp of Joma Sison that he will set a meeting with Joma Sison first to be held abroad followed by his Philippine return.
