Presidential Candidate Roy Señeres Dies at 68 Years Old 3 Days After Withdrawal

Presidential candidate Roy Señeres of the OFW Family Club Party-list and former ambassador to the United Arab Emirates has passed away on Monday or three days after he announced his withdrawal from the Philippine presidential race in the 2016 national elections.

Rep. Roy Señeres of the OFW Family Club party-list dies at around 8:07 AM due to cardiac-pulmonary arrest while at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of St. Luke’s Global City. The presidential aspirant was already 68 years old during the time of his death.

RJ Señeres, the son of Roy Señeres confirmed the news of his father’s death in a radio interview with radio station dzMM.

The presidential aspirant Roy Señeres was already included in the official list of presidential candidate based upon the final official list of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), but on Friday Señeres withdrew his candidacy following his doctor’s “long-standing diabetes.”

“I wish to inform you that after much thought and prayers to the God Almighty, I am hereby announcing my withdrawal from the Philippine presidential race. I do so with the blessings of my family and upon the recommendation of my doctor who has advises me to avoid stress due to my long-standing diabetes as to prevent the complications thereof,” his statement read.
