February 8, 2016: Chinese New Year Special Non-Working Holiday

The Philippine national government already declared the Chinese New Year 2016 which will be celebrated this coming February 8, 2016 as one of the Special Non-Working Holiday based upon the Proclamation signed by Pres. Benigno S. Aquino III.

Chinese New Year

Proclamation No. 1105 was signed by Pres. Aquino last August 2015 declaring February 8, 2016 as a special non-working holiday as the country celebrates with the Chinese nationals all over the world during the Spring Festival or the Chinese New Year.

According to the Pres. Aquino’s proclamation, the Chinese New Year is one of the most revered and festive events celebrated not only in China but also in the Philippines.

The Chinese New Year will fall on Monday while the other special non-working holidays for the month of February will be celebrated this coming February 25, 2016, which falls on Thursday.

Employees from both the government and private sectors will have a long weekends this month of February starting from February 6 to 8, 2016. For the entire year, there will be six long weekends based upon the official list of national holidays in the country.
