Reasons Why Metro Manila Residents Favors Mayor Duterte as their President

The tough-talking mayor of Davao City, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte was favored by Metro Manila residents to be their next president after Pres. Aquino steps down in 2016. Political observers revealed some of the major reasons why Metro Manila residents favored Mayor Duterte.

According to Political science professor Ramon Beleno III, one of the reason why Metro Manila people favored Duterte was because of the mayor’s comments on Metro Manila traffic and the tanim-bala controversy which translates him into being the being choice for President based on the latest Pulse Asia survey.

The 70-year-old Mayor Duterte got the highest preference in Metro Manila with 34 percent compared to former front runner Sen. Grace Poe who got 26 percent while Vice President Jejomar Binay slides to the No. 3 spot with 22 percent in a privately commissioned survey by Pulse Asia.

The political analyst also added that the mayor was very consistent in just saying the practical means of solving the problems. Ramon Beleno III was quoted as saying “The mayor was very consistent in just saying the practical means of solving the problem, and I think yung nakita ng mga tao dito sa Metro Manila – iyung sincerity na hindi na kailangang magpa-pogi,” Beleno said.

Although the political analysts revealed one of the reasons why Mayor Duterte was favored by Metro Manila residents, he also warned the camp of the mayor, now that Mayor Duterte has declared his plan to run for President, it is expected that some will question his candidacy that might derail him in his plans to change the Philippines for the betterment of the Filipino people.
