UP Pep Squad Wins 3 Medals at the Cheerleading World Championships

One of the country’s most popular cheer dance team, the University of the Philippines Pep Squad won a total of three (3) medals as they represented the country at the Cheerleading World Championships held in Berlin from November 21-22, 2015.

The former UAAP cheer dance competition champion, UP Pep Squad took home the silver medal from the Cheer All Female category with a total score 329.5, as well as the two medals from the Small Groups Mixed (228.5 points) and Cheer Dance Doubles (207.5 points) categories.

Winning the gold medal in Cheer All Female event is the cheering squad from Japan who garnered a total of 497.5 points.

Before being awarded with the three medals in the recently concluded cheer dance competition, UP Pep squad also participated in the international competition last year in Bangkok and won a silver and bronze medal.

The University of the Philippines Pep Squad is considered as one of the country’s most popular cheer dance squad with record breaking titles in the UAAP. The team have won the most UAAP Cheerdance title at 8 which was tied with the UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe.

Although the UP Pep Squad won the most number of titles in the UAAP, they finished 2nd runner-up at this year’s UAAP Cheerdance Competition.
