Azkals to Face Yemen in Manila Without Phil Younghusband & Luke Woodland

The Philippine Azkals will face Yemen at home in Manila for the continuation of the country’s dream to reach the next round of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifier or an outright berths to the 2019 AFC Asian Cup. The Philippines will face Yemen within the service of the country’s most popular football player Phil Younghusband and the promising Luke Woodland.

Azkals team skipper Phil Younghusband will serve a suspension for picking up yellow cards against Uzbekistan and Bahrain while Luke Woodland will stay with his new club, Chester FC, an English fifth-tier club in the United Kingdom.

The Filipinos needs to win the next remaining games as they only managed to score a total of 7 points during the previous games. The Philippine Azkals will battle it out against Yement this coming November 12, 2015 at the historic Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Despite the absence of Phil Younghusband and Luke Woodland, the Filipinos could still rely with veteran football stars namely Javier Patiño, Stephan Schrock, Neil Etheridge, Jerry Lucena, Rob Gier, Iain Ramsay and Roland Muller to name a few.

The Azkals returned training yesterday with 11 players showing up composed mostly of foreign-based football stars. The Philippines had a mountain to climb to make to the third round of the World Cup Qualifier as they need the maximum points in their last three games.

The last three games of the Azkals includes their bout against Yemen next week, a trip to Tashkent to play Uzbekistan and a clash at home against the group leader North Korea.
