The tough-talking Mayor of Davao City, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte might not be able to substitute for Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption chairman Martin Diño. The party fielded the the former VACC chairman and one of the top officials of PDP-Laban to run for President in 2016.
Martin Diño filed a certificate of candidacy for President as a member of the PDP-Laban, the same party with the Davao City mayor Rodrigo Duterte.
Recent reports noted that according to the Commission on Elections regional office in Davao, Mayor Duterte filed his COC for mayor as member of his local party Hugpong sa Taong Lungsod and not as a member of the national party PDP-Laban.
Based upon the COMELEC’s rules, a candidate may voluntarily withdraw and be substituted by a party mate on or before December 10, 2015.
Most netizens especially the OFW’s are pushing for Mayor Duterte’s presidential candidacy and are still hoping that the Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, would change his mind and still run for president as a substitute for the PDP-Laban.
