The historical-biopic movie “Heneral Luna” is now a certified blockbuster as its producers officially announced that the movie earned more than P240 million in the box office after weeks of showing in nationwide cinemas.
According to producer Fernando Ortigas and EA Rocah, they really thanks to their supporters and could not believe that their project became a smashing success.
The Jerrold Tarog’s acclaimed historical film break even after five weeks of showing in local cinemas. Some movie experts noted that a film has to earn three times its production budget for producers to recoup their investment.
The movie Heneral Luna cost P80 million to make, its break-even point is pegged at P240 million.
Actor John Arcilla, who played the titular revolutionary Gen. Antonio Luna, simply laughed off the possibility of being declared a box-office king.
The movie became a huge success on cinemas after it trended on various social media sites, the producers also admitted that social media is a big part of the film’s success.
