In an interview with sports reporters on Thursday at the PLDT Office, SBP Vice-President Ricky Vargas clarified that the basketball patron, MVP only wants to ensure that the country would be able to field the players it needs to book a wild card slot in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the 2016 Summer Olympics.

The Gilas Pilipinas squad secured one of the three spots for Asia in the Olympic qualifiers along with Iran and Japan but in the wild card tilt, the Filipinos will be facing more tougher opponents from Europe, Americas and the African region.
