Iran

Both the Philippines and Iran won their first game in the second round of the competition, as Iran leads the Group F with an unblemished records after defeating Hong Kong while the Gilas Pilipinas squad routed Japan and now just behind Iran in Group E.

A victory over Iran by Gilas Pilipinas will solidify their entry into the knockout quarterfinals, and if they win also against India, they will be considered as top seed in Group E.

Right now the Philippines holds a 2-1 record in their group after the defeated Japan but one of its main players, the naturalized center of Gilas, Andray Blatche is still nursing a sprained ankle.

According to Coach Tab Baldwin of Gilas Pilipinas his squad will try to hand Iran its first defeat in the tournament while avenging their loss to Iran during the last edition of FIBA Asia and during the Jones Cup 2015.
