Gilas Pilipinas Defeated Chinese Taipei and Wins MVP Cup 2015

The Philippine national basketball team more popularly known as Gilas Pilipinas defeated the visiting Chinese Taipei squad during the Master Game Face MVP Cup as they scored a victory against Chinese Taipei during the final stages of the invitational tournament with the final score of 90-77 in favor of Gilas.

Gilas Pilipinas completed a three-game winning sweep in the MVP Cup as they wrapped up country’s preparations and had won nine of 14 warm-up games in all leading into the final week of preparation for the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship which will also served as Rio Olympic qualifying round.

The 12-man Gilas Pilipinas squad is headed to pitch camp in Cebu for the closing part of the country’s FIBA Asia buildup.

Coach Tab Baldwin, the head coach of Gilas Pilipinas admitted that his squad is still in the learning curve with 10 days to go before the start of the Changsha meet that will serve as the regional qualifier for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

Before the MVP Cup, the Gilas Pilipinas already showed what they got as they posted a winning 9-2 mark from the Jones Cup 2015 but Coach Tab Baldwin wasn’t impressed with the nationals performance against Iran wherein they finished second in the competition.
