UNA Speaks About PNoy Endorsement As A Payback to Mar.

Now DILG Secretary Mar. Roxas was supposed to run in the 2010 presidential bid but gave way to then Senator Benigno Aquino III to be Liberal Party’s standard bearer, and for United Nationalist Alliance the president’s endorsement is a “payback time.”

President Aquino earlier endorsed Roxas to continue “Daang Matuwid” through 2016 elections.

Opposition block UNA Secretary General JV Bautista said the “suspense for the Liberals is finally over.”

“What amazes me is how a political party in power had to agonize over its choice of presidential candidate, exposing its very shallow bench of leadership, as well as its dismal failure as a political party,” Bautista said.

UNA earlier lambasted Roxas for his failure to address certain issues as taking a seat in the cabinet specifically pointing out to the Mamasapano incident and aftermath of the Super typhoon “Yolanda.”

Bautista also criticized the administration’s party for “running around like a headless chicken” in recent months as waiting for the president’s endorsement.

“A political party, more so one in power, is expected to select and train leaders… now with a clear candidate, it can start to defend PNoy’s dismal record in leadership and governance,” Bautista said.

Roxas is expected to face again now Vice President Jejomar Binay of UNA in the presidential race.
