Pope Francis Registered for World Youth Day Using an iPad

The head of the billion-strong Roman Catholics worldwide, Pope Francis became the first person who registered for next year’s World Youth Day festivities, using an iPad to sign up while addressing thousands of pilgrims and tourists in the headquarters of the Roman Catholic in Saint Peter’s Square in Rome, Italy.

According to the Pope, he thanks to the electronic device which he signed up as a simple pilgrim, declaring himself the first person registered for next edition of the World Youth Day celebration while flanked by two Polish youths.

The World Youth Day celebration will held next July in Krakow, Poland, while the most recently organized gathering was held in Rio de Janeiro in 2013, shortly after Pope Francis’ election as pope.

In Krakow, Poland, an electronic clock was installed on the Renaissance Holy Mary Basilica to count the days remaining until the event, initiated by Polish-born St. John Paul II in 1986.

Before the digital signing of Pope Francis, the Pope appealed for the release of Italian Jesuit priest Paola Dall’Oglio, who was kidnapped in Syria two years ago.
