July 27, 2015 was already declared as a national working holiday in 2008 through Republic Act No. 9645 in commemoration of the founding anniversary of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) in the country.

Unlike last year, President Benigno Aquino III decalred July 27 a non-working holiday to commemorate the centennial anniversary of the Iglesia Ni Cristo, considered as the country’s largest Christian Church with ministries worldwide in more than 100 countries.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) noted that an employee is entitled only to his basic rate on special working holidays.

“No premium pay is required since work performed on said days is considered work on ordinary working days,” DOLE said.
