Mandaluyong City became the latest addition of world record holder for the Philipppines as the city was awarded with a Guinness World Record for the largest Zumba class in one location. The world record was achieved by the city as they surpassed the one set by Cebu City last 2014.
The largest Zumba class in a single venue Guinness World Record was awarded to Mandaluyong City as a total of 12,975 participants joined the celebration. During the year 2014, Cebu City was awarded with the same title with a total of 8,232 participants.
The gathering in Mandaluyong City was held in celebration of Mayor Benhur Abalos’ birthday. According to some participants, they woke up as early as 3:00 Am to part of the historic event.
During the event, Mandaluyong City’s Martinez and Nueve de Pebrero Streets and Fabella Road became a sea of yellow as the yellow-clad participants took part in the Zumba class.
