Vice Pres. Jejomar Binay to Face Assaults & Defamation Charges from Police Officers

The Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines, Vice-Pres. Jejomar Binay allegedly harass some police officers at the Makati Hall grounds. Due to the incident the Philippine National Police (PNP) is set to file complaints against the Vice President of the Republic.

According to DILG Secretary Mar Roxas during an interview, he stressed that the police force was tasked to maintain peace in Makati as Binay supporters flocked to the city hall grounds following the suspension order issued against Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay.

The DILG secretary also called on the media to release videos of the confrontation between the Binay Camp and the PNP. During the controversial incident the police were commended for being professional despite the tension at the city hall grounds.

In a report posted by the Southern Police District Senior Superintendent Elmer Jamias, they will file charges of physical injury, direct assault on a person of authority, oral defamation and grave threat against the vice president.

DILG Secretary Roxas also called on the vice president to urge his son, the Makati mayor, to step down from office following the suspension order against him in relation to the alleged overpriced construction of the Makati City Science High School building.
