Vice Mayor Kid Peña Sworn in as Acting Makati City Mayor After Binay’s Suspension

The Vice Mayor of Makati City was sworn in anew as the city’s acting mayor on Tuesday morning, June 30, 2015 after the second suspension order against Makati City Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay. The suspension order for the former Makati Mayor was posted at the entrance of the Makati City Hall.

Vice Mayor-turned Acting Mayor of Makati City, Romulo “Kid” Peña, is one of the prominent member of the administration’s Liberal Party. He was sworn in at the Old City Hall Building.

Acting Mayor Kid Peña will served as mayor of Makati for the second time in less than four months that he was mandated to take over Junjun Binay’s post as head of the country’s financial capital.

Last March, Kid Peña served as Makati’s acting mayor when Mayor Binay was first ordered suspended by the Office of the Ombudsman. The former Brgy. Captain now acting mayor of Makati came back to being Vice Mayor in April following a TRO secured by Binay’s camp from the Court of Appeals which stopped the suspension.
