NFA is currently tracing where the synthetic rice came from after it reached Davao City.

Meanwhile, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte warned importers and retailers of the synthetic rice in the city.

“If you are importer of a fake rice, you better [back] off. Huwag mong gawin [iyan] kasi ipapakain ko sa’yo lahat iyan. Kung dis cientos tonelada iyan i will give you 24 hours to eat that.”, he said in a TV interview.

According to one consumer, the fake rice has been in her home for three weeks and it has spoiled. When she pressed the supposedly rice, water came out.

According to the report, the fake rice looks like Styrofoam when cold.

The consumer also tried to burn the rice and it smelled different.

It is hard to identify the fake rice especially when it is mixed from the real ones, but if you noticed similar as to those described as fake, kindly report it to authority.
