The El Nino has already dried up many farm lands and depleted water supply pushing the towns and cities in the province to urge the provincial government for the declaration.

Through the declaration, the province is anticipated to abruptly release more than P30 million from its Quick Response Fund (QRT) which is equivalent to 30% of its remaining calamity fund.

Drought affected areas will be the urgent beneficiaries of the amount.

The declaration will also cover prize freeze for commodities.

Relating to the drought, the Provincial General Services Office (PGSO) is also expected to provide drums and hoses for the LGUs.

Earlier, towns of Tuburan, Tabuelan, Argao, Moalboal and Bobon were already put under state of calamity.
