“Magalang naman akong tao, at kung nagpapakilala naman ako ang sinasabi ko ‘Si Mar Po’”, the secretary quipped.

Roxas said he knew about the meeting between President Aquino and Sen. Poe regarding the presidential elections in 2016.

“We continuously meet with other leaders as well,” Roxas said in a chance interview with reporters at the SMX convention center.

The secretary also admitted that he is expecting another meeting with the lady senator.

“Actually this was a continuation of the meetings with Sen. Grace before Holy Week and its good the President found the time to hold a meeting before he left for Canada,” he said.

Roxas refused to share the details of the earlier meeting but said the discussions was about the straight path, reinforcing and strengthening it.

He also said that the Liberal Party is still discussing the plans regarding the elections especially that they are putting trust on the wisdom of the people in choosing the next leaders also adding that everyone who believes in the straight path should feel glad about the meeting between the President and Poe.

Meanwhile, for Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr., Roxas-Poe tandem would be the team to beat in the coming May 2016 elections.

“This combination is a formidable team, either way. But we in the Liberal Party (LP), including the President, are heavily leaning toward Mar as our presidential candidate,” he told a news conference, referring to Roxas.

He also added that Sen. Poe is close to LP calling that she’s part of the team.

House Majority Leader Neptali Gonzales II said Roxas is still LP’s most likely presidential candidate.

“A Mar-Grace tandem is a dream team that can beat the opposition,” he told reporters.
