Hatton to Mayweather: ‘He Disrespected Boxing’

Retired British boxer Ricky Hatton said in an earlier interview that undisputed champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. has disrespected the sport of boxing with his off-ring tricks.

Hatton told The Sun that Mayweather may be the boxing’s best and richest fighter, doesn’t mean he is the most respected.

“Floyd has his way and I have mine, but there’s a line between selling tickets and disrespecting the sport,” Hatton said. “What’s the point of being the world’s best fighter if everyone thinks you’re a d***head?”

Mayweather defeated Manny Pacquiao in May 2, though Pacman got the Las Vegas crowd while “Money” was booed.

Hatton recalled when Mayweather called him profanities and even using the Manchester derby to get to his dead.

To inflame Hatton who is a lifelong Manchester City supporter, Mayweather wore a Manchester United short in the 2007 super fight.

Meanwhile, after his fight against Pacquiao and during training camp, the undefeated American boxer has been wearing Philippine-inspired gear.
