Sen. Trillanes: ‘Naniniwala Ako na Di na Tatakbo si Vice President Binay’

Allegations of corruption and declining from survey ratings may hinder Vice-President Jejomar Binay in the presidential race as the 2016 election nears.

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV believes that Binay’s withdrawal from the presidential race would be a “game changer” since this would allow other politiciams to run for the highest office.

Aatras na siya ngayong nararamdaman niyang gumuguho na ang mundo niya,” Trillanes said in an interview on radio dzBB.

The vice-president’s public satisfaction rating according to Social Weather Stations deflated in the first quarter of 2015.

Since August 2014, Trillanes with Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano and Aquilino Pimentel III have been holding hearings on allegations of corruption against Binay.

However, Binay has shown no signs of quitting in the presidential race.

Trillanes said that the Nacionalista Party (NP) studies the possibility of Binay’s backing out of the race in firming its 2016 plans.

“Di pa muna makapag-desisyon ang NP sa ngayon dahil marami pang tinitingnan na variables, such as what if umatras si Vice President Binay, ano ang mangyayari? Pero base sa nakikita ko ay aatras talaga siya (Binay),” he said.

The senator is meanwhile firm in his push to reveal evidence of the Binay’s alleged corruption.

Hindi totoo ‘yun,” he said.
