Pacquiao vs. Mayweather Fight Brings Moment of Unity Among Filipinos

The Filipino people will be united as one, as the biggest fight of the country’s boxing icon, Manny Pacquiao against the undefeated Floyd Mayweather is fast approaching with just a few hours before kick-off time. The world welterweight championship bout dubbed as the “Fight of the Century” will bring the country to a standstill.

The Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fight is a rare period of unity for the Filipinos as the countrymen of Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao gives him full support for the biggest fight of his entire boxing career.

Philippine Army spokesman Lt. Col. Harold Cabunoc stated that they expect Maoist rebels and Maoist extremists will be watching the fight of the century and he added further that wide TV screens will be set up in all military camps nationwide, which includes conflict areas.

The 36-year-old Manny Pacquiao is an official with a rank of Lieutenant Colonels in the Philipine Army Reserve Force. Aside from preparations made by the Philippine Army and other members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, civilians and businessmen across the Philippines are also preparing for the highly anticipated boxing match.

Accordign to ABS-CBN, they already registered more than 86 million punches thrown at a virtual punching bag set up three weeks ago by the Kapamilya Channel to support the only eight-division world champion, Manny Pacquiao.
