Team Philippines Loses To Iran in Asian U23 Ladies’ Volleyball, Gives Tough Bout

The efforts of Alyssa Valdez and the rest of the Philippine Team volley-belles fell short against Iran in the first leg of the Asian U23 Women’s Volleyball Championship Friday at the PhilSports Arena.

The first set was owned by Iran women, 25-22, leaving the Filipinas three more set chances.

In the start of the second set, Filipinas were able to put the score ahead of the visitors but was immediately pegged back by Iran finishing the set with a win, 25-22.

While the third set was pretty good for the Filipinas leaving Julia Morado to end the set with a big win, 25-19.

Yet too far for win, the Philippine players started the fourth set slowly with more errors in the game leaving the opponent the momentum to end the game, 25-20.

Though unable to win against Iranians, the Philippine spikers were able to put up a good bout.

Team captain Valdez led with 31 points and six aces.

The Filipinas need to win against Kazakhstan later 2:30 pm at the arena in order to advance to the next round of the competition.
