Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton Gives Birth to a Baby Girl (Photos)

Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, the wife of Prince Williams safely gave birth to a baby girl at around 8:45 AM (London Time) of May 2, 2015. The delivery of the newest member of the Royal Family sparked celebrations for the royal couple as their daughter, becomes the fourth in line to the British throne.

The Royal Residence of Kensington Palace said in a statement that “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a daughter at 8.34am.” They added further that the Mother and baby “are both doing well,” it said.

During the delivery of the Princess of Cambridge, Prince William was present and all senior members of the British Royal Family. The news was first announced in a tweet and then by the tradional colourfully-dressed town crier on the steps of the hospital.

According to an official reports from the hospital, the new Princess of Cambridge, weighed in at 8 poinds 3 ounces (3.7 kilos). In the line of successsion, the princess comes after big brother George, below Queen Elizabeth II’s eldest son Prince Charles, she is fourth in the line of succession.

The Kensington Palace also announced earlier that Her Royal Highness Kate Middleton was admitted to the hospital accompanied by her husband at around 6:00 AM (local time) in the early stages of labour.

Right after the announcement of Kate Middleton’s delivery, British Prime Minister David Cameroon sent his best wishes in a tweet. Prnce William told supporters that the second child will be a “game-changer” after their first child, Prince George was called “life-changer.”
