Looking back to her long career as an international performer, Salonga was emotional saying “The path to success is not an easy one.”

During the premiere run of Miss Saigon in London in 1989 Salonga faced one of the most unforgettable challenges in her career, she almost lost her singing voice.

Narrated in the short film for Cream Silk Portraits: A Celebration of  The World Class Filipina which was directed by Marie Jamora, Salonga shared that she was only 18 when all of a sudden “there was nothing coming out” of her voice.

As a technical singer Lea know that time that there is something wrong and feared it.

“Because I know the horror of what happens when that thing fails, when your instrument decides to rebel and stop working for you,” Lea related in the film.

Leah in the other hand became fortunate with the help of the people who love and care for her.

“There are so many people to credit for the getting over everything”, she said.

The short film about Salonga’s story was presented at The Theater in Solaire Resort and Casino Tuesday night.

Relating to the short film Lea said, “I feel incredibly happy that I’ve gotten to work with the people I’ve gotten to work with, that I’ve traveled to some amazing cities and countries in this world.”
