Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters defeated the Rain or Shine Elasto Paintes during the Game 5 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Final leading the series 3-2 and a win away from the title. The Tropang Texters led by as much as 20 points midway the third canto and secured the victory with the final score at 103-94.
Gilas Pilipinas mainstay Paul Lee tried to come back during the final quarter as the Elasto Painters came to as close as 5 points, 99-94, with over a minute remaining but the Tropang Texters sealed the victory through Ivan Johnson’s dunk, with just 17 seconds to go.
Ranidel De Ocampo, a long-time member of the Philippine national team did heavy damage against Rain or Shine as he scored 27 points including the crucial three triples aside from grabbing a total of 8 rebounds.
TNT import Ivan Johnson also contributed with 27 points and added 6 rebounds while the Elasto Painters court general scored with 15 points. Talk ‘N Text victory is their first back-to-back win against the Elasto Painters after they suffered two straight losses against Rain or Shine in the PBA finals.
