Thai-German Gay Couple’s Photo Becomes Viral; Draws Hate, Support

Filipino netizens discussed Saturday on Social media a photo of a gay couple holding hands on a train in Thailand making it viral.

The photo of Thai creative director Naparuj Mond Kaendi and his German boyfriend Thorsten Mid first posted on BV Patrol Facebook page have drawn the attention of the netizens and even received various reactions ranging from hate to support for the couple.

Comments on Facebook included offensive remarks although the Facebook page captioned the photo showing the couple a huge support and noting that bitter people are not welcome.

Some netizens picked on Kaendi’s appearance even commenting that the creative director deceived his boyfriend.

While there are netizens who expressed their negative comments, there were also who extended support for the couple even defending them.

Facebook users who showed support emphasized quality in love and respect.

After the huge support Kaendi received he then posted on his Instagram account that he was overwhelmed, “#THANKYOU all of you for the support and all the positivity. To be honest I wasn’t so surprised when random people walked to us last night and showed us all these candid pictures of us that have been posted the whole evening. It happened before, same time last year and all the nasty comments left me nothing but worries and tears. This year though, in the other hand, Thorsten and I, unexpectedly, are so thankful and overwhelmed by the storm of your huge support. We never meant to try to be under the spotlight and all… But thank y’all anyway”, quoted.
