Manny Pacquiao is the Philippines Top Taxpayer for BIR’s 2013 Lists

Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao is the Philippines Top Taxpayer for the Year 2013 according to the latest list released by the Bureau of Internal Revenue. The 2013 list was based only on regular income tax payments made as of November 24, 2014.

Manny Pacquiao paid a total of P163.84 million in regular income taxes in 2013 despite battling a tax case filed by BIR. The tax evasion case against Pacquiao stemmed from his P2.2 billion tax liability based on an (–foul word(s) removed–)sment by the BIR.

Ranking second behind Manny Pacquiao was Juanito (–foul word(s) removed–)uevo Alcantara, paid P99.61 million in income taxes but his business has yet to be ascertained. One of the country’s most prominent lawyer Atty. Estelito Mendoza was third place with P73.18 million.

Mr. Reynaldo Benoza Chico, Jr., was fourth place with P67.34 million while Megaworld Corp. founder and chairman Andrew Tan ranked fifth on the list with income tax payment of P67.18 million. Andrew Tan is also the fourth richest man in the Philippines and considered as the top businessman in the list of top taxpayers during the year 2013.

Prominent banker and Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. President Lorenzo Tan was sixth on the list with income tax payments of P60.89 million, while Palawan Governor Jose Alvarez ranked seventh with P55.62 million.

The eighth on the list of top taxpayers is Mercury Drug President Vivian Que Azcona who was top individual taxpayer for 2012. In the 2013 list she paid P51.61 million in income tax.

Ninth on the list of top taxpayers is Meralco President Oscar Reyes who paid P51.44 million while rounding out the Top 10 is Insular Life Chairman and CEO Vicente Ayllon with P50.08 million.
